SUMMARY:Book Launch Party: THE MIDNIGHT SHOW by Jennifer Thorne & Lee Kelly
DESCRIPTION:We’re celebrating the release of The Midnight Show by Jennifer Thorne and Lee Kelly (who you know from our book club!) and we’d love for you to join us at Stone & Key Cellars! 🎉 \nThe Midnight Show is an immersive\, page-turning novel about surviving as a funny woman in the male-dominated world of comedy—and what happens when the most promising female star of her generation disappears.\nIn the 1980s\, women were not supposed to be funny. But when a group of college improv comedians gets the chance to join a new late-night show\, it’s Lillian Martin who stands out. The new show was called The Midnight Show and it would air every Friday night\, live from New York\, and change the landscape of TV and comedy forever. \nBut first it would change Lillian’s and her friends’ lives. When the show becomes a runaway hit\, the cast is thrown into the spotlight. Suddenly\, they’re skipping the line at the city’s hottest clubs and posing on the cover of Rolling Stone. Lillian\, in particular\, seems destined for bigger things—until one winter night in Lower Manhattan\, she vanishes\, leaving nothing behind but questions. Was Lillian a victim of her own excesses? Was it a mugging gone wrong? Or could she have been killed by someone in her own inner circle? \nForty years later\, Lillian’s disappearance has still never been solved. But when a budding journalist looking to examine Lillian’s story from a modern lens begins asking questions\, she stirs up decades-old drama—as well as tightly-held secrets some comedy legends would much rather stay buried.\nA propulsive story of fame and friendship told through a variety of media—compiled interviews\, articles\, transcripts—The Midnight Show takes readers behind the scenes of the cutthroat world of comedy in 1980s New York and asks if the rush of getting a laugh is all it’s cracked up to be. \nAbout the Authors:\nJenn Thorne is the USA Today bestselling author of Diavola and Lute\, and Lee Kelly wrote City of Savages\, A Criminal Magic\, and With Regrets. They met on the writing circuit\, hit it off immediately\, and they teamed up to write this novel.\nCome get your book signed\, have a drink\, and hear them talk about the years of research that went into this one\, including improv classes and a trip to NBC Studios! \n🗓 Monday\, April 6 at 7 PM (SPECIAL MONDAY NIGHT OPENING!)\n📍 Stone & Key Cellars\, Ambler\n🎟 Free to attend \n🍷 Wine and cider for sale by Stone & Key Cellars\n📚 Books for sale by The Doylestown Bookshop \nRSVP

SUMMARY:Ambler Wine Collective
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Ambler Wine Collective! This club is a new and engaging way to learn about wine while sharing great bottles and conversation. All classes are led by Robert Peters and Russell Schilder\, longtime instructors in the Temple University (Ambler) Wine Appreciation program. \nHow the Collective Works\nEven months:\nGuided\, theme-based wine classes held at Stone & Key Cellars\nCurated selections chosen by Robert and Russell\nEach class includes one Stone & Key Cellars wine\nFuture themes include France\, Spain\, and Sparkling Wines \nOdd months:\nA relaxed “Lab Night”(Remember in science class\, you’d have the theory and then the lab!)Bring a favorite or interesting bottle to share that follows on the theme of the last wine classOpen group discussion led by Robert and Russell \nNext meeting: \nJoin us on Wednesday\, April 8 for a class on “The Judgement of Paris Revisited: 50 Years Later”\n\nThe Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 — also known as the Judgment of Paris — was a wine competition organized in Paris on 24 May 1976 by Steven Spurrier\, a British wine merchant\, in which French judges carried out two blind tasting comparisons: one of top-quality Chardonnays (Ch) and another of red wines (Bordeaux wines from France and Cabernet Sauvignon (CS) wines from California). A Californian wine rated best in each category (Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars(CS); Chateau Montelena (Ch)\, which caused quite a surprise as France was generally regarded as being the foremost producer of the world’s best wines. Spurrier sold only French wine and believed that the California wines would not win. The story is recounted in the movie “Bottle Shock” staring Alan Rickman and Chris Pine though the real-life people say little of it is actually true (but is still a good movie nonetheless).\nTICKETS \nAbout Your Instructors\nRussell Schilder holds a WSET Level 3 certification and has extensive experience with wine-focused fundraising events and private tastings. \nRobert Peters brings over 30 years of experience in the wine and spirits industry across retail and wholesale markets.
